TSIS High Potentials Program

Five editions in four years. More than two hundred high-potentials gathered across 4 continents. Eight teams per cohort. No slides. One day to build a five-minute argument and deliver it to the executive committee.

5 Editions delivered
200+ High-potentials trained
5 Locations (Europe, USA, Asia, Middle east)
4.7/5 Participant satisfaction
48 participants per Cohort
The context

48 high-potentials, with half a day to present to the board of directors without any slides. The format was ambitious by design, and a strong communication framework was the missing piece.

TSIS is the alias for the high-potentials program of a major international company in finance. Every edition gathers 40 to 48 high-potential employees from across the company, divided into eight teams of five to six people. Each team gets a strategic prompt from the executive committee. They have to build and deliver a presentation that same afternoon. Five minutes. No slides. Ten minutes of Q&A right after. Before I was brought in, the executive committee was finding the presentations too superficial. The content was not the real question: they are experts in their fields. What they needed was the structure to carry that expertise. My job was to build the method to do that.

The problem

A few weeks of preparation, one morning workshop together, just before presenting to the board.

The format is hard on purpose. There is no slide deck to hide behind. No second take. No rescue. A few weeks to absorb the prompt. One morning of in-person coaching. Then the afternoon, in front of the people who decide their next career step. The challenge was to build an intervention that delivered the clarity the executive committee expected. And to refine it edition after edition, without breaking what was already working.

  • Find one clear key message under time pressure
  • Build a five-minute argument that holds together without a single slide
  • Handle ten minutes of executive committee Q&A on the spot
  • Scale the same methodology across eight teams from all over the world
The methodology

The methodology, step by step

Step 1

Capture the message

An intro webinar to present the prompts and Canvas for message capture. Inspired by design thinking and augmented SWOT.

Personalized written feedback on each team's draft message.

Step 2

Structure the speech

A self-paced e-learning module on the McKinsey pyramid, MECE thinking and the structure canvas: the U-Shape narrative.

Personalized video feedback on each team's draft structure.

Step 3

Sit with each team

A 30-minute personalised coaching session per team, two days before presentation day.

Feedback on structure, key message, delivery plan. Answering any question before the final workshop.

Step 4

Three hours of delivery work

Morning of presentation day. Face to face. Posture, voice, gestures, warm-up.

Dedicated time for team rehearsal and coaching on their specific presentation.

Step 5

Present to the executive committee

Same afternoon. Five-minute presentation per team. No slides. Ten minutes of Q&A with the executive committee. All eight teams in a row. Every session video-recorded.

Step 6

Send back the real feedback

Individual and team written feedback based on the recorded video. Specific.

Actionable advice on both content and delivery.

“Damien really did some magic to transform the program. The presentations went from dull to excellent, every time.”
