The context

Ensure the future of leadership: 25 managers from six countries, three residential sessions across the year.

BOBST is a company where careers are long. People can join as apprentices and move all the way up to the executive committee. That means the company is always thinking ahead as how to upskill their employees for their next challenge, getting them ready to lead. The Strategic Leadership program is how that readiness gets built. Between twelve to twenty-five managers per cohort, drawn from all the major sites: Switzerland, Italy, France, Germany, China, the United Kingdom... Over a year, they meet three times for three days each. The program covers Finance, Management, and Communication, with me.

The problem

Most experts present the analysis before the conclusion. For an executive committee, it has to be the other way around.

Future executives at BOBST are not short on substance; they are short on framework. Most leadership training focuses on knowledge, management, and strategy. Communication gets a thin slice, if any. But the executive committee makes decisions in minutes during meetings, not by reading pages over pages. If you cannot land the insight first and defend it second, you lose them. The point of the module is simple: give these future leaders the tools to sound the way they already think.

  • Lead with the insight. The analysis comes after.
  • Filter complexity down to a clear, decision-ready recommendation.
  • Hold authority under questioning, without sounding scripted.
  • Apply the method to real upcoming presentations, not just exercises.
How the module is built

Three phases across the year, one real presentation

Phase 1

Pick the real presentation

Online or hybrid. Each participant identifies a real upcoming high-stakes communication moment. A leadership report. A strategic recommendation. A board update. That becomes the work for the rest of the module.

Phase 2

Build the structure

Hybrid online. A McKinsey-style pyramid principle. Executive-first narrative. Participants learn to filter complexity and lead with the insight. The analysis defends, it does not introduce.

Phase 3

Spend a day on delivery

Full day, in person. Presence, voice, posture, the difference between an idea on paper and an idea in the room. Each participant gets direct feedback on their own real presentation, in front of the group.
